A Shade Above: Celebrating 25 years of Serving Charlotte

For all things window, A Shade Above can help you with quality window treatments. Whether you want to remodel, want more or less light, more color or something to change the look of your space, Brandy and her team will walk you through the entire process.

A Shade Above is the Carolinas’ largest family-owned and operated window coverings company, and they recently celebrated more than 25 years of excellence in the Charlotte community. Their parent company, Artisan Shutter, has manufactured custom plantation shutters in Monroe, NC, since 1993.

They offer the premier Artisan Shutter and Hunter Douglas window covering lines. All of their products are custom made to measure right here in the USA. The experience begins in their showroom, here at the Promenade, where customers can see and feel the shades and color samples. Their store features inviting large front windows where customers can really get a feel for how natural light flows through the variety of fabrics. Next, they visit their clients’ homes to gather exact measurements, so that they can precisely match each window. Once their blinds, shutters or shades are manufactured, their highly trained craftsmen install each by hand.

A Shade Above has amassed hundreds of 5-star reviews during their time in business from highly satisfied customers. Over the years, their shades and shutters have been installed in the homes of local racing drivers, bank executives and celebrity athletes.

Brandy Bowers was born and raised in Charlotte. Prior to working with A Shade Above, she was a director of communications. After that, she became a stay-at-home mom of two, which she says was her “most challenging and rewarding job yet.” Brandy has been in the window coverings industry for the past seven years. She enjoys design and working with people to discover their personal tastes. Creating a cohesive and inviting home space with her customers creates a challenging and rewarding outcome to every project. Brandy has a degree in communications and after staying home with her children, she decided to get back into the work field in a sales and design position.

A Shade Above chose the Promenade because of its location. Brandy states that “the shopping center is well established, with ample highly desirable shops and retailers. With close proximity to 485 and the neighboring Weddington and Ballantyne communities, we saw it fit to expand this, our most recent retail location, into this growing area. Additionally, we’re a stone’s throw from Matthews and our friends just across the state line into South Carolina as well!”

They encourage all customers to call at (980) 202-6530 or to go online to schedule a personalized design consultation. They’re open 10am-5pm Monday-Friday and 10am-5pm on Saturdays. A Shade Above offers two other Charlotte showrooms as well. One is located in Historic South End, and the other in Cornelius, just off Lake Norman.
