Hometown Mattress to Open at Promenade in March

Promenade on Providence is excited to welcome Hometown Mattress & Sleep Solutions to its array of tenants. Owned by Brian and Charlene Cerza, Hometown Mattress will offer private-label mattresses in several comfort levels, a brand for active lifestyles and a luxury collection of hand-tufted mattresses – all locally made in North Carolina, about an hour’s drive from the store.

The Cerzas lived on the Outer Banks for the past 17 years and were partners in a family business that designed and furnished the interior of vacation homes, where they understood the importance of creating a comfortable sleep environment.

“Our philosophy is that sleep is a health issue and that creating a sleep environment for regenerative sleep should be a priority,” said Brian Cerza. “Charlene always says, ‘Tomorrow will only be as good as the sleep you get tonight.’”

In addition to mattresses, the store will offer specialty pillows, eco-friendly luxury sheets, mattress protectors, down duvets, pillows and bed frames with adjustable bases that can be controlled from a phone. Hometown Mattress is also introducing “Feather Your Nest,” a private label brand of aromatherapy candles, reed diffusers and room sprays made in the USA from the purest and finest essential oils, which enhance restorative sleep.

Cerza said that the company believes in using locally produced products as well as green materials, such as box springs that are Amish made from solid wood, soy-based foams in their mattresses, cruelty-free down products and minimal transportation since the mattresses are only an hour way, reducing environmental impact. Additionally, sales of sheets, pillows and mattress protectors support the Malouf Foundation, which fights human trafficking.

The 2,500-square-foot showroom will provide customers with a relaxing and comfortable environment. “We’ll guide customers through a mattress and pillow fitting where they can narrow down their selections easily and find the bed that will best meet their needs,” said Cerza. “We encourage people to take their time, browse and learn about our products without pressure.”

The Cerzas knew they wanted to open their store in South Charlotte and stumbled upon Promenade on Providence while driving around and asking Siri for the nearest Starbucks. “Looking back, Charlene and I laugh about how Siri led us to this spot,” said Cerza. “That day, there were families playing in the center courtyard area, people walking and biking, and bustling traffic in the stores. The feeling we got as we were driving through was one of community.”

Hometown Mattress is located in the Promenade on Providence shopping center at 5349 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Suite 700, Charlotte, NC 28277. Hours are 10am to 6pm Monday through Saturday starting March 1.
