For someone visiting for the first time, what are the “must-order” items on the menu?
The must have menu items to order at Shuckin’ Shack are, of course, oysters which are one our signature items. They can be served raw, steamed or chargrilled topped with garlic parmesan or jalapeño cheddar. If you are looking for the sampler of our amazing steamed seafood, go for our Saul T’s Steam pot served with steamed oysters, clams, crab legs, and shrimp!
I would suggest our Seafood Trio which features Cold Crab Dip, perfectly fried Calamari and our Signature Sharkbite Shrimp. For the non-seafood lovers, we have an amazing Breakwater Burger, Salads, and Whole Hand-Tossed Wings which will satisfy your hunger cravings! All can be served along with our Signature cocktails like a Shack Attack Bloody Mary, Saltmarsh Margarita, or a Smirnoff Crush!
What goes into sourcing fresh seafood and oysters for the restaurant, and what should diners know about the quality and preparation?
Oysters are the centerpiece of our menu.
All of our seafood is domestically sourced and can be traced back to the exact harvest bed and time they were collected. Oysters are stored, chilled, and shucked to order to preserve their natural briny flavor. Our chargrilled oysters, steamed oysters or fried oysters are prepared in ways that highlight the quality of the ingredients and natural seafood taste. We take pride in our shrimp as well. Always serving Wild Caught American Shrimp caught in US waters.
What excites you most about opening in the South Charlotte community?
What excites us most about opening in the Charlotte community is adding fresh excitement to the city’s growing restaurant scene. We will have a laid back authentic coastal atmosphere that focuses on oysters and seafood which is much needed in the Charlotte community.

For people who might not usually order oysters, what’s a great starting point on the menu?
A great starting point on the menu for people that don’t normally order oysters would be to try our Chargrilled Oysters. We like to call them our “training wheel oysters”. They are topped with delicious toppings fired on our grill which may lead your tastebuds into trying our steamed or raw oysters.
If oysters just aren’t your thing, our amazing fried pickle spears served with ranch or the whole hand tossed wings that can be served with a variety of wing sauces such as our shuckin’ hot, barbecue, sweet thai chili and several more would be a go-to option.
Also, if you’re a fan of fish sandwiches, you can start with our Hermit Sandwich which is fried Atlantic Cod topped with lettuce, tomato, our homemade coleslaw, and tartar sauce.
What are you most looking forward to once the doors officially open?
We are most excited about, as we are getting ready to open our doors, is introducing a fresh coastal dining concept to the Charlotte market. We look forward to serving, engaging in our community, getting to really know our customers, and providing a comfortable coastal escape in the Queen City for all to enjoy.
